VUMC Academic Enterprise Department Support

What we do:

Formed as a partnership between VUMC Finance and the Academic Enterprise in 2006, the team works to:

  • Enhance training programs and awareness, including understanding of the significance of effort reporting by those subject to effort reporting requirements
  • Enhance policies and practices to support the research enterprise
  • Limit direct use of P-Cards on federal centers
  • Coordinate meetings and elicit support for compliance with the Research Compliance Experts (RCEs)
  • Administer the online Effort Reporting Training Mandate
  • Offer in- person Effort Reporting Training for Faculty and Staff
  • Offers Quarterly Training Classes: Direct Charge, Effort Reporting, Cost Transfers, General Ledger Review, Best Practices for the Research Administrator, and Other Special Topics
  • Maintain the Administrator’s Resource: Quick Reference Site
  • VPRAD coordination in partnership with the Office of Contract Management
  • Provide support for Prorate and Center Creates for Unrestricted funds in the Academic Enterprise
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting as requested by leadership for the Academic Enterprise
  • Maintain the VMG tax waiver database and make monthly journal entries
  • Provide support for administrative area’s in Academic Enterprise for privilege management, Epac, E procurement, P card, and other related financial systems.
